Cal Beans was founded in 2006, after creator of the Cal Bean company, Barbara Weinberg visited Cambodia for her holiday. The people of Cambodia had been using the beans for many years and were eaten for their nutritional value.  Barbara brought some of the Cal Beans back with her and discovered that not only were they having a great effect on her health but she was also losing the pounds - and fast!

Barbara devised recipes for the beans, including chilli con carne, burritos and curry. She started to cook for friends who all loved the beans immediately for their taste and flavour and even more so when they discovered they were an aid to slimming.

Soon the demand for Cal beans was excessive, everyone wanted to try them! Barbara soon ran out of beans and quickly booked herself another holiday to Cambodia, where she met a farmer of the beans deep in the jungle. Barbara has recieved her beans from the farmer ever since, providing over 50 Cambodians with new jobs.

In August of this year, Cal Beans will celebrate its 1st birthday since becoming an official business. To celebrate and with help from our friends at Corporate Event Planning, we will be throwing a launch party for Cal Beans to celebrate the success of the business and all of Barbara's hard work. Free samples will be avaliable at the launch as well as original recipes and new ones!
